So today I had the brilliant idea of making custom ponies. It's taken me most of the afternoon today and I'm not done. Specially on that big one.
Guess what it is.
The other two are Thunderlane and Dr. Whooves. Will post pictures when finished.
I'm pretty new to fully modifying and painting pony bodies, so this are amateurish. God do I hate working on the eyes. And I'm despising the thought of working on their cutie marks.
Also, your Doctor Whooves is amazing. *_* I'd really like to get into making some custom ponies of my own, but I'd need more time and money than I currently have access to at the moment. >> I'm kinda hoping to make use of the Shining Armour mould as bait for some of the male ponies once it's available-- Big Mac and the Doc are first on my shortlist.
Thanks! I'm happy with how the mold for his mane turned out. And my brother did a great job painting him. Just his eyes are what's bugging me, same for Thunderlane, but that's cause painting eyes is a pain.
Yes, this consumes a lot of money..I had to spend over 60 bucks on the materials alone. >_< But Doctor Whooves is an excellent choice to start with. He's a nice looking pony, and very simple at the same time.
I was hoping for that, but isn't the Shining Armour figure coming in the playset only? If not, then I'll hold back on any more stallions (which basically are most, if not all the ponies I have planned) for the small figures.
No problem! ^^ And yeah, I can see why you would be-- it's very nice work. I send my regards to your brother as well for the paint job. The eyes are tough, though-- I have a hand-painted custom Derpy I bought from NYCC, and its creators tell me the eyes were a bitch to do. Especially considering she's a blindbag pony. >>
Agh...quite-- I'm gonna see if I can't graduate to a paid position at City Hall before attempting any customs. >< But yes, quite true! As I said, he'll likely be my first attempt. Though I might try to mix it up and model him after Jitterbug Jive's discorded rendition of him, with a dark gray coat instead of brown, bags under hia eyes, and a little black bowtie. The latter will probably be the toughest to put together, lol.
Yeah, I was aware of that-- I was hoping to maybe score a couple of loose ones on the secondary market for bait purposes. Assuming he's not ALSO subject to insane ebay prices. x_x; If that fails, though, I can work with the smaller and easier to acquire blindbag stallion mould.
